Job Description

L&W Engineering a successful Tier One Automotive Supplier, is currently seeking a Material Handler for our Shipping department on 2nd shift in Belleville, MI. We offer competitive wages and a great benefits package!


Drives powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices to stack, tier or move products, equipment or materials by performing the following duties.

Main Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inventories materials on work floor.
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels or production schedules.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids or lifting device.
  • Loads and unloads customer freight and empty containers.
  • Responsible for tagging incoming/outgoing freight.
  • Prepares orders/ Stages orders for delivery.
  • Scans orders into system.
  • Unloads and loads Outside Processing (OSP) freight.
  • Organizes materials in department as necessary.
  • Recharges batteries, fills fuel tank or replaces liquefied gas tank.
  • Completes safety and operational checks daily.
  • Follows and performs FIFO procedures
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Help in departmental operation wherever necessary.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • Able and willing to work any shift assigned.
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.



Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Successfully complete hi-lo training program
  • Previous hilo experience preferred 


High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one year related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience
