Job Description

Directs and coordinates activities of shipments, both expedited and scheduled, both inbound and outbound. Assists with day-to-day operational duties of Haggerty Logistics including supervising the Haggerty Logistics truck drivers.

  • Schedule shipments and/or dispatch trucks to ensure timely delivery within scheduled times while ensuring compliance with DOT and FMCSA guidelines and company policies.
  • Communicates with Haggerty Logistics drivers as assigned by Transportation Manager.
  • Interfaces with Transportation Manager to secure additional drivers, utilize outside carriers, modify existing equipment or acquire additional equipment to satisfy capacity demands
  • Maintains assigned logs not limited to, but including: IFTA, Driver Assignments, Gas Receipts
  • Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipments to determine responsibility
  • Responsible for processing various forms including, but not limited to, IFTA, ISF, Customs IB/OB, NAFTA
  • Well-rounded knowledge of International Shipment requirements (both import and export)

  • Familiarity with form TS-1016 Customer-Specific Requirements Listing for ISO/TS-16949
  • Ability to navigate customer websites for customer specific requirementsAbility to work with the following software packages or programs:
  • Technical Skills:
  • Microsoft Office at an intermediate level
  • Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level
  • Effective email and electronic communication skills are required
  • Ability to effectively use internet websites for shipping information
  • This position requires a typing speed of 45 words per minute.
  • Must have knowledge of all applicable state and federal regulations pertaining to interstate truckload transportation, DOT guidelines, FMCSA requirements
  • Must be familiar with Haggerty Logistics Driver ManualBachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Valid and current driver’s license with an acceptable record including the ability to operate company vehicles

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Business Judgment:

Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner. Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers.
