L&W Engineering has a great opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager at our manufacturing facility in Detroit, Michigan. Candidate will be responsible for coordination, implementation and supervision of quality programs and system.  Also for optimizing product quality through internal and external inspection of raw materials, purchased parts, finished goods, production operations and processes, consistent with established standards by performing the following duties:


  • Develop and document a short and long-term quality plan identifying objectives that address the highest priority elements of the quality system.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of the Quality Manual and Quality System Requirements.
  • Provide quality characteristics during product or process development to meet customer expectations.
  • Identification and analysis of total quality costs including prevention, appraisal, internal and external costs and for formulating action plans to reduce these costs.
  • Provide a preventative method of controlling quality through SPC, problem solving and prevention techniques, i.e., inspection of raw material; work in process and finished goods.
  • Auditing vendor’s ongoing quality control systems and participate in quality review audits.
  • Management representative for TS-16949.
  • Assist in obtaining and maintaining ISO-14001 and TS-16949 certification.
  • Team Activities such as:
    • Tracking and reporting key measurables (Will provide training)
    • Understanding and performing scheduling (Will provide training)
    • Selecting team members (Will provide training)
    • Continuous improvement (Will provide training)
    • Maintaining and utilizing Visual Management (Will provide training)
  • Learn and demonstrate along with train associates in quality processes, procedures and gauging equipment along with preparing required documentation.
  • Coordinate sort processes should a defect or quality alert is issues to ensure proper labeling and disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Monitor containment and corrective action implementation. Communicate any identified concerns to Quality Administrator on the next shift.
  • Understands, supports, and implements the company Safety policies and procedures into daily work habits.
  • Understands, supports, and implements Continuous Improvement skills into daily work habits.

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
