Job Description


To support a multi-functional team and customers with accurate measurement reports of stampings, assemblies, fixtures, and details using both fixed CMM and portable 3D laser scanning technologies.



The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position.  However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

  • Write CMM Programs per customer GD&T utilizing PC-DMIS software and Brown & Sharpe XCEL 12.20.10 with Renishaw PH10MQ.
  • Run CMM Programs to collect and report dimensional data in requested formats.
  • Perform process capability studies, utilizing Q-DAS (previously DataPage) to output statistical data reports for review.
  • Collect and report 3D scan data utilizing PolyWorks|Inspector software and FARO Edge ScanArm.
  • Retrieve CAD model(s), customer drawings, and related specifications from customer databases. (i.e. QMS 3.0 and inter-company data drives)
  • Perform check fixture certifications and Gage R&R studies as requested.
  • Manage gauge calibration system, ensures all calibrations are completed per schedule and certifications uploaded for reference during audits.
  • Proactively seek out and attend training at equipment/software suppliers in an effort to continuously update working knowledge and improve lab efficiency.
  • Travel to other plant locations as needed for on-site inspection. (≤5% Travel)

Job Requirements

Required Skills

  • Responsible for reading and understanding quality standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of alignments and vectors.
  • Experience using PC-DMIS or equivalent CMM programming software.
  • Experience using Q-DAS Statistics (previously DataPage) or equivalent Statistical Analysis software
  • Experience using Polyworks|Inspector software, collecting data with articulating 3D scan arm, aligning to CAD models, and exporting color map reports. (preferred)
  • Ability to assist associates with interpreting GD&T and understanding reports.
  • Ability to work efficiently and support multiple departments’ needs.
  • Ability to work independently.



Education and/or Experience: 

Two year certificate or degree from college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.


Technical Skills:

Ability to work with the following software packages or programs:

  • PC-DMIS or equivalent CMM Programming software at an intermediate level


  • Q-DAS Statistics (previously DataPage) or equivalent Statistical Analysis software at an intermediate level
  • Polyworks|Inspector at an intermediate level (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office at an intermediate level
  • Effective email and electronic communication skills are required


Ability to work with the following data base programs and/or hardware:

  • QMS 3.0 – Retrieving Part Data & Gauge Calibration Tracking

Ability to work with the following tools or machinery

  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Scales
  • Height gage
  • Jo-Blocks
